Staff Bios - Saint Mary Magdalene School

Here is the list of our teachers and staff.

Courtney Ryan - Principal

Miss Ryan joined our staff in 2020.  She grew up here in Columbus, Ohio, attending St. Catherine Elementary School and Bishop Hartley High School.  Miss Ryan graduated from John Carrol University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to receive her Master Degree in Technology Enhanced Learning from the University of Dayton and an additional Masters Degree from University of Notre Dame in Educational Leadership. Miss Ryan previously taught 2nd and 3rd grade over the past 10 years at Saint Thomas Aquinas School and Lakewood Catholic Academy in the Cleveland area.  In her free time Miss Ryan enjoys reading, working out, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.  Her favorite saint is Saint Catherine of Siena; “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”


Lisa Fulcher - Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Fulcher started volunteering at St. Mary Magdalene in 1997 and hasn’t left. She officially joined our staff in the school office in 2005. Mrs. Fulcher studied Fine Arts at The Ohio State University and previously worked at Catholic Social Services and Ohio State. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, George, her sons Michael and Christopher, and her fur son Murphy.  She also enjoys photography, cooking, arts and crafts and going out to restaurants with her family. Mrs. Fulcher's favorite saint is St. Francis of Assisi.

Alicia Wiltron - Administrative Assistant

Ms. Wiltron joins our staff in the office this year.  She is a 2009 graduate of Bishop Ready Highschool.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and doing activities with her nieces and nephews. She has a dog named Nico that she loves to play with.  Ms. Wilton also enjoys baking in her free time and making cakes.  She looks forward to working closely with our Hispanic community.  Ms. Wiltron's favorite psalm is Psalm 23. "The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want."


Alice Carrier - Cafeteria Manager

Mrs. Carrier began at St. Mary Magdalene in 1999 and has many roles around the hallways of the school.  Mrs. Carrier is our cafeteria manager and parish secretary in the rectory.  In her free time she loves to spend time with her family.  "I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me" - Philippians 4:13 is Mrs. Carrier's favorite Bible verse.

Melissa Espinoza - Lead Preschool Teacher

Rachel Battocletti - Preschool Lead Teacher

Ms. Battocletti began teaching at St. Mary Magdalene in 2019 as one of our lead preschool teachers.  She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and taught at Bridgecreek Elementary, teaching kindergarten and 4th grade.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, trying new recipes, and traveling. Ms. Battocletti's favorite Bible scripture is Romans 8:37-39.

Maddie McGonigle - Kindergarten

Ms. McGonigle is a graduate of Ohio University where she earned a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and Masters degree in Reading     Education.  She attended St. Matthias and St. Francis DeSales Highschool here in Columbus.  She previously taught kindergarten at East-West Elementary School and Our Lady of Bethlehem School and Childcare Center.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, listening to music, reading books, and going to the beach.  Ms. McGonigle's favorite saint is Saint Agnes.

Leslie Dent - Kindergarten

Mrs. Dent has been teaching since 1992 when she came to St. Mary Magdalene. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and received her Master Degree from The Ohio State University. Mrs. Dent has also taught kindergarten, first, second, third and fifth grade. She has four sons who all attended St. Mary Magdalene. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running and children’s literature. Mrs. Dent has a favorite quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta,  "Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile."

Beth Ann Hockett - 1st Grade

Mrs. Hockett began her teaching career as the second grade teacher at St. Mary Magdalene in 2005.  After several years of teaching second grade she was very excited to move to first grade.  She loves teaching reading and religion to her first grade class.  Mrs. Hockett obtained a Bachelors of Science in Education from Ohio Dominican University and she earned her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University. She is also very proud to be a former Catholic school student and believes very strongly in the value of Catholic Education.  Mrs. Hockett and her husband have two daughters who also attend Catholic schools.  One of Mrs. Hockett's favorite saints is St. Therese of Lisieux, because of her loving dedication to finding holiness in everyday life.  Mrs. Hockett believes that the words of St. Therese "Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with "love" are truly words to live by.

Brock Brown - 2nd Grade

Mr. Brown is proud to be a St. Mary Magdalene and Bishop Ready High School alumni.  He graduated from Capital University in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Mr. Brown helps coaches basketball at Bishop Ready.  In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his family and friends.

Megan Isenbarger - 3rd Grade

Mrs. Isenbarger is a graduate of The Ohio State University and received her Masters Degree in 2007 from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She began her teaching career at St. Mary Magdalene in 2008, and was thrilled to be able to teach 3rd grade.  In her spare time, Mrs. Isenbarger enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband, daughter Quinlan, son Henry and their yellow lab, Avery. Mrs. Isenbarger's has a deep relationship with Mother Mary and one of her favorite saints is St. Kateri Tekakwitha.


Renee Scurlock- 4th Grade

Ms. Scurlock couldn't be more excited to start her 26th year teaching 4th grade at Saint Mary Magdalene School.  She was born and raised in Columbus and attended and graduated from St. Francis DeSales Highschool and Ohio Dominican University.  Ms. Scurlock enjoy watching sports, reading, live music, and spending time with her family and friends.  Ms. Scurlock believes that being a teacher is an incredibly rewarding job because you have the opportunity to engage individuals on a  range of topics and shape how they learn and grow academically, spiritually, and faithfully.


Nicole Talebi - 8th Grade Homeroom and 5th-8th Grade Math

Miss Talebi is a graduate of Miami University with a Bachelors degree in Middle Childhood Education focusing on math and science, in addition with an english language arts and social studies endorsement.  In 2019 she received her Masters degree in educational technology from Ashland University. She currently teaches 4th and 5th grade math and science, including 8th grade math.  Miss Talebi has also taught at  Watkins Middle School where she taught 6th and 8th science and also coached high school track.  In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, watching CBJ hockey, hiking, running (she co-coaches our Girls on the Run team), traveling and spending time with her two dogs, Max and Coco. Miss Talebi's favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Elba Martinez - 6th Grade Homeroom, 5-8 Grade Math

Christine Cotter - 5th Grade Homeroom, 5-6 Social Studies and 7-8 English Language Arts

Ms. Cotter has devoted 38 years of teaching here at St. Mary Magdalene. Before that, she was a student among these very walls. She earned her degree from The Ohio State University and has completed additional course work at Capital University. Ms. Cotter currently teaches religion, math and language arts. She also takes care of many disciplinary issues as our assistant principal. Ms. Cotter enjoys family get togethers and watching college football, especially Notre Dame. She has a deep love for all animals including llamas and her greyhound rescue, Finnegan. Ms. Cotter's favorite saint is St. Francis of Assisi.  

Jay Miglia - 7th Grade Homeroom, 5/6 English Language Arts, 7/8 Social Studies

Mr. Miglia has taught at colleges around Ohio, most recently for 15 years in the music department at Otterbein University.  His earned degrees include an MAT in Middle Childhood Education from Otterbein, and a BM and MM from the University of North Texas.  Mr. Miglia is definitely a lifelong learner and loves to teach!  He is excited to continue his career working with middle school students, especially in a close, Catholic community like Saint Mary Magdalene.  His favorite Bible scripture is Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always.  I shall say it again: rejoice!"  

Amy Agostino - Art

Mrs. Agostino currently teaches art at St. Mary Magdalene.  We welcomed her in 2019.  She also teaches at Our Lady of Bethlehem and taught religion at St. Patrick school in London in the past.  Mrs. Agostino received her Bachelor in Arts from Otterbein University and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Ohio Dominican University.  In her free time she enjoys painting, reading, watching golf, coaching volleyball, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Agostino's favorite saint is St. Therese "Little Flower".

Dominic Cavello - Physical Education

Mr. Cavello came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2005. He received his degree from The Ohio State University. Before coming to St. Mary Magdalene he taught at St. Catherine. Mr. Cavello currently teaches at both St. Matthias and our school. Students in grades kindergarten through eighth see Mr. Cavello two times a week for gym class.

Kelsey Fulmer - Music

Ms. Fulmer joined the St. Mary Magdalene staff in 2018 to teach general music.  She also currently teaches at Our Lady of Bethleham and St. Agatha.  Ms. Fulmer graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors in Music Education. She is currently working towards a Masters in Elementary Education with Kodaly Method emphasis from Capital University. In her spare time she enjoys biking, taking her dog on walks, and growing indoor house plants. Ms. Fulmer's favorite Bible scripture is from Matthew 5:14-16: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."


Pat Martindale - Librarian

Ms. Martindale began her teaching career in 1965 and joined St. Mary Magdalene’s staff in 2010. She is also a proud alumna of St. Mary Magdalene. Prior to coming to our school, she taught at St. Gabriel and South Western City Schools. She is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University and has completed additional course work at The Ohio State University. Ms. Martindale enjoys reading, traveling and being a member of the SMM choir. She loves her cat, Pepsi.

Craig Lewis - Band

Mr. Lewis currently leads our band at St. Mary Magdalene.  He began teaching in 1996 and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2011.  Mr. Lewis received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Ithaca College in 1996.  He went on to receive his Masters in Music Education from University of Nevada Las Vegas in 2004.  Mr. Lewis has previously taught for schools in London OH, Las Vegas NV, Bullhead City AZ, West Valley NY, and Cattaraugus NY. He is very busy while he currently instructs students in 4 other diocesan schools too; Bishop Ready, St. Cecilia, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and Trinity Catholic School. In his free time Mr. Lewis enjoys hiking, bicycling, motorcycling, camping, playing and listening to music. A favorite Bible passage of Mr. Lewis is Romans 15:13 and his favorite saint is Saint Anthony.

Cindy Oddi - Religious Education

Mrs. Oddi started her teaching at St. Mary Magdalene in 1985. She is proud to say she is a St. Mary Magdalene alumna from the class of 1964. Mrs. Oddi has her degree from Columbus State University and Dayton University and also has her advanced religious education certification. Students at St. Mary Magdalene can expect to see Mrs. Oddi helping with our Youth Grouup. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sports (especially baseball and Nascar), walking and spending time with her grandchildren.


JoLynne Anderson - Math Intervention Specialist

Mrs. Anderson began her teaching career in 1975 and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2009. She has taught in various Columbus City schools as a tutor. Mrs. Anderson is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor and Master degree. She has also attended Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio for continuing education courses. In her spare time, Mrs. Anderson enjoys reading, sewing, embroidery, baking, gardening, and walking.


Gerard Cox - Reading Intervention Specialist

Mr. Cox works with students in all grades helping them improve their reading skills. The students receive services throughout the week for thirty minutes at a time. As an employee of Columbus City Schools, Mr. Cox has been teaching at St. Mary Magdalene since 2011. Prior to coming to our school he taught sixth through eighth graders in Westerville. Mr. Cox received his degree from Capital University. He enjoys NFL football, playing drums and piano and local history.


Linda Lloyd - Intervention Specialist

 Mrs. Lloyd came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2018 as our Intervention Specialist.  She received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Miami University and her Masters Degree from the University of Dayton.  Mrs. Lloyd has been teaching for 34 years, most recently in Dublin City Schools. She has also taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades including reading intervention.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jack, and their two daughters and families. She has 4 wonderful grandchildren that live nearby.   A favorite Bible verse of Mrs. Lloyd is, John 13:34, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Withenia Moore-Williams - ELL Tutor

Dr. Moore-Williams has been at St. Mary Magdalene since 2017 teaching our ELL students. She graduated from North Carolina Central University with her Bachelor in Arts degree.  Dr. Moore-Williams continued her education at The Ohio State University receiving her Masters and Ph.D. She has previously taught at Columbus City Schools in multiple K-8 buildings, The Ohio State University, and the Martin Luther King Performing and Cultural Arts Complex. In her spare time, Dr. Moore-Williams enjoys gardening, baking, cooking, drawing, binge watching movies and tv series, and shopping online.  Her favorite saint is St. Jude, and the Bible verse Phillippians 4:13 " I can do all things through him who strengthens me".

Sandra Winchester - Speech Pathologist

Mrs. Winchester joined the St. Mary Magdalene staff in 2018.  She has put in 35+ years as a speech pathologist, working with students with speech and language needs. Mrs. Winchester graduated from Bowling Green State University with her Bachelors Degree and The Ohio State University with her Masters.  She has also taught at Columbus City Schools and Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities.  In her spare time, Mrs. Winchester enjoys traveling and spending time with family.  Her favorite scripture quote is "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your path." Proverbs 3:5

Diane Fowler - School Psychologist

Mrs. Fowler is our School Psychologist. She is a native Ohioan and attended Ohio State University for both undergraduate and graduate studies.  Mrs. Fowler earned her Master of Arts in Education and entered the field of School Psychology in 1987. She has been employed by Columbus City Schools since 1988. Mrs. Fowler loves her job and working with the SMM staff, families and students. She has been married for almost 35, has three adult children, two lovely daughters-in-law, and a beautiful granddaughter.  In her spare time, Mrs. Fowler enjoys family, reading, gardening, sailing/outdoor activities, and spending time with her dogs!

Ashley Daugherty - School Counselor

Ms. Daugherty is a counselor with Spirit of Peace Clinical Counseling, and has been with St. Mary Magdalene since 2016 .  She received Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Dominican University and her Master of Social Work degree from Walden University.  When she is not at SMM, Ms. Daugherty can be found working at St. Catharine, and has helped at Southwestern and Columbus City Schools.  In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading, working out, scrapbooking and volunteering with her church group.  Ms. Daugherty's favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
