Staff Bios - Saint Mary Magdalene School

Here is the list of our teachers and staff.

Rocco Fumi - Principal

Mr. Fumi started his teaching career in 1984 and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2002. Prior to coming here, he taught at Columbus Academy, Big Walnut and Badger High School in Kinsman, Ohio. Mr. Fumi is a graduate of The Ohio State University and has a Master Degree in Education Administration from Ashland University. He currently teaches eighth grade math. In his free time Mr. Fumi enjoys sports, Ohio State football, golfing and cooking.

Stephanie Carrier - Preschool

Miss Carrier is proud to have called Saint Mary Magdalene home for Kindergarten through 8th grade and later attended Bishop Ready. She graduated from Bowling Green State University recently and spent the summer interning in Dublin, Ireland working at a Family Resource Center. 

 

 

Amy Andreski - AM Preschool

Miss Andreski is teaching AM Preschool again this year at St. Mary Magdalene.  She is a familiar face around our halls helping out with our BASE program too.  She received her Bachelors degree from The Ohio State University.  In her spare time Miss Andreski enjoys watching college football, especially the Buckeyes.  She is also a Pittsburgh Penguin hockey fan!

Leslie Dent - Kindergarten

Mrs. Dent has been teaching since 1992 when she came to St. Mary Magdalene. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and received her Master Degree from The Ohio State University. Mrs. Dent has also taught kindergarten, first, second and third grade. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exercising and children’s literature.

Beth Ann Hockett - Grade 1

Mrs. Hockett has been teaching since 2005 when she came to St. Mary Magdalene.  She is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University and received her Master Degree from Ashland University in 2007.  Mrs. Hockett has also taught 2ndgrade.  She enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and their two daughters.

Brock Brown - Grade 2

Mr. Brown is proud to be a Magdalene and Bishop Ready alumni.  He recently graduated from Capital University in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Mr. Brown also coaches football and basketball.  In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his family and friends.

Megan Isenbarger - Grade 3

Mrs. Isenbarger is a graduate of The Ohio State University and received her Master Degree in 2007 from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She began her teaching career at St. Mary Magdalene in 2008. In her spare time, Mrs. Isenbarger enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband, daughter Quinlan and their yellow lab, Avery.

Ann Brock - Grade 4

Ms. Brock began her teaching at St. Mary Magdalene in 1986. Prior to teaching here, she taught at St. Mary of the Assumption for 5 years and St. Patrick in London for 6 years. Ms. Brock is a graduate of Mount St. Joseph and received her Master Degree from Northern Kentucky University in 1980. She also taught 3rd grade as a split class for 8 years. Ms. Brock enjoys farming on her family farm.

Mark Watts - Grade 5

Mr. Watts earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education from Clarion University. He also has a Masters Degree in Exercise Science from California University of PA. Mr. Watts is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. During his free time he enjoys reading, writing, and exercising.  Most of all, Mr. Watts enjoys spending time with his wife Nikki, their three daughters, Claire, Abigail, and Quinn and their dog, Zoey.

Angie Byrom - Grade 6

Mrs. Byrom earned her degree from The Ohio State University and has completed additional coursework from Ashland University and Ohio Dominican University. She began her teaching career in 1981 at St. Stephen the Martyr and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 1992. Mrs. Byrom currently teaches religion, math, language arts, science and health to the middle school students. She enjoys reading, vacationing at the beach, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

Christine Cotter - Grade 7

Ms. Cotter has devoted 30 years of teaching here at St. Mary Magdalene. Before that, she was a student among these very walls. She earned her degree from The Ohio State University and has completed additional course work at Capital University. Ms. Cotter currently teaches religion, math and language arts. She also takes care of many disciplinary issues as our assistant principal. Ms. Cotter enjoys watching college football, especially Notre Dame, and loves her two rescue greyhounds, Rudy and Poppy.

Julius Palazzo - Grade 8

Mr. Palazzo began his teaching career at St. Mary Magdalene in 1976 and is proud to be Magdalene alumnus from the class of 1968. He graduated from The Ohio State University and has completed additional course work from various schools. Mr. Palazzo has also taught 5th grade, but currently teaches religion, social studies and science. He enjoys officiating, sports, and movies and is the diocese athletic director for grade schools.

Suzy Westrick - Art

 Mrs. Westrick earned her degree from Drexel University and also has a BS in Fashion Design. Mrs. Westrick is currently teaching at Our Lady of Bethlehem and Columbus College of Art and Design. She has also taught toddlers (age 18 mo.) through eighth grade.  She enjoys cooking, baking, spending time with her family and travel. We welcome Mrs. Westrick to the St. Mary Magdalene family.

Dominic Cavello - Physical Education

Mr. Cavello came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2005. He received his degree from The Ohio State University. Before coming to St. Mary Magdalene he taught at St. Catherine. Mr. Cavello currently teaches at both St. Matthias and our school. Students in grades kindergarten through eighth see Mr. Cavello two times a week for P.E.

Pat Martindale - Librarian

Ms. Martindale began her teaching career in 1965 and joined St. Mary Magdalene’s staff in 2010. She is also a proud alumna of St. Mary Magdalene. Prior to coming to our school, she taught at St. Gabriel and South Western City Schools. She is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University and has completed additional course work at The Ohio State University. Ms. Martindale enjoys reading, traveling and being a member of the SMM choir. She loves her cat, Pepsi.

  

Lisa Boyer - Music

Mrs. Boyer has been teaching since 1980 and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 1999 and again in 2007. She is a graduate of Otterbein University and received her Master degree from University of Rio Grande. Mrs. Boyer teaches kindergarten through grade 8 here at St. Mary Magdalene. She enjoys traveling, reading, volunteering and spending time with family.

Shelby Hawk - Technology and Aide

Miss Hawk is proud to be a Magdalene and Bishop Ready alumni.  She recently graduated from Ohio Dominican University  with a degree in biology and chemistry.  In Miss Hawk's free time she enjoys teaching Zumba and Bootcamp at a local gym.  She also enjoys reading and watching football, baseball and hockey. This year Miss Hawk is helping in our first and second grade classrooms, along with teaching technology to grades K-8.

Keri Wilson - School Nurse

Mrs. Wilson is a proud graduate of St. Mary Magdalene.  She received her degree from Mt. Carmel College of Nursing.  She will be with us on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Esther Holsinger - Speech Pathologist

Mrs. Holsinger is a Columbus City School Speech Pathologist who has been working with St. Mary Magdalene students since 1992. She is a graduate of Clarion University where she received both her Bachelor and Master Degrees. Before coming to St. Mary Magdalene she worked at Columbus Speech and Hearing Center. She currently works for both SMM and Trinity Elementary. Mrs. Holsinger enjoys gardening, reading and traveling.

  

Gerard Cox - Reading Intervention Specialist

Mr. Cox works with students in all grades helping them improve their reading skills. The students receive services throughout the week for thirty minutes at a time. As an employee of Columbus City Schools, Mr. Cox has been teaching at St. Mary Magdalene since 2011. Prior to coming to our school he taught sixth through eighth graders in Westerville. Mr. Cox received his degree from Capital University. He enjoys NFL football, playing drums and piano and local history.

 

JoLynne Anderson - Math Intervention Specialist

Mrs. Anderson began her teaching career in 1975 and came to St. Mary Magdalene in 2009. She has taught in various Columbus City schools as a tutor. Mrs. Anderson is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor and Master degree. She has also attended Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio for continuing education courses. In her spare time, Mrs. Anderson enjoys reading, sewing, embroidery, baking, gardening, and walking.

 

Cindy Oddi - Religious Education

Mrs. Oddi started her teaching at St. Mary Magdalene in 1985. She is proud to say she is a St. Mary Magdalene alumna from the class of 1964. Mrs. Oddi has her degree from Columbus State University and Dayton University and also has her advanced religious education certification. Including our parish, Mrs. Oddi is the Catechetical Leader for St. Agnes and St. Aloysius too. Students at St. Mary Magdalene can expect to see Mrs. Oddi during sacramental preparation. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sports (especially baseball and Nascar), walking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alice Carrier - BASE Director, Cafeteria Manager, Preschool Business Manager

Mrs. Carrier started working at Saint Mary Magdalene in 1999. Students will see Mrs. Carrier every day before retrieving their lunch in our school cafeteria. She also can be seen around school with our Before And After School Enrichment program.

Lisa Fulcher - Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Fulcher started volunteering at St. Mary Magdalene in 1997 and hasn’t left. She officially joined our staff in the school office in 2005. Mrs. Fulcher studied Fine Arts at The Ohio State University and previously worked at Catholic Social Services and Ohio State. In her spare time she enjoys photography, spending time with family and friends, arts and crafts, and music.

Mary Ann Graham - Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Graham was a volunteer for our school for many years starting in 1980. She became part of our office staff in 1999. Mrs. Graham received her nursing degree from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing. She also has her advanced religious education certificate through the diocese. Mrs. Graham enjoys crafting, singing and the Ballet.
